Over 200 Hundred Palestinians Injured in Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli Police Attack
The Attack Has Been Condemned by The International Community as Israeli Police Used Stun Grenades and Rubber Pellets on Innocents
Over 200 Palestinians, along with six officers, have been injured in the recent clashes and Israeli police attacks that are occurring in the city of Jerusalem, according to the Israeli police and Palestinian medical staff. Most of the individuals were injured at the 3rd Holy site for Muslims, Al-Aqsa mosque, where the Israeli police attack occurred by them firing stun grenades and rubber bullets, while Palestinians havee thrown bottles and stones to retaliate.
Attack on worshippers during evening prayer
The tensions have been on the rise over a possible eviction of the Palestinians from the region, which had been claimed by the Jewish settlers. A field hospital has been set open by the Red Crescent to treat the Palestinians injured individuals during the Israeli police attack on innocent praying individuals.
The Al-Aqsa mosque complex located in the Old City of Jerusalem is one of the most revered locations of Islam; meanwhile, the site is also the holiest site in the religion of Judaism and is known as the Temple Mount.
The Al-Aqsa mosque location has become a frequent flashpoint for violent activities, one of which recently unfolded on Friday night as an Israeli police attack, while thousands of Muslims had gathered to observe the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan by the Muslims.
According to the Israeli police, they had to use force for the restoration of order due to the increasing rioting caused by the gathering of thousands of worshippers after the evening prayer.
The President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, has stated that he has held the country of Israel responsible for this sinful Israeli police attack and dangerous expansions.
An official working at the Al-Aqsa mosque used the loudspeakers of the mosque to calm the individuals present at the site. He said that the Israeli police firing must be stopped along with stun grenades immediately at the worshippers, while the youth who are present should be quiet and calm down.
The Red Crescent emergency services for Palestinians have said that 88 of the Palestinians who were injured were taken to a medical facility after they had been hit with metal bullets coated with rubber. During the Israeli police attack, around six individuals had been injured and required immediate medical attention.
International reaction to Israeli attacks
The international community has appealed for the tension de-escalation on Friday, as the anger of the Palestinians has mounted over the threatening for eviction of the families of Palestinians in the district of Shaikh Jarrah located in the region of East Jerusalem.
The spokesperson for the United States State Department has stated that Washington has become concerns regarding the increasing tensions and violence deeply after the Israeli police attack, which resulted in multiple Palestinians injured.
The European Union has also condemned the Israeli police attack and the behavior of violent activities in the region and said that the perpetrators on both sides would be held accountable for their unlawful actions against innocent lives.
The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Peace Process of the Middle East, Tor Wennesland, has urged all the parties which are involved to respect the status quo of the religious holy sites located in the Old City of Jerusalem in the interest of stability and peace of the area and to immediately stop the Israeli police firing.
The United Nations has said that Israel should stop any kind of eviction of Palestinians and should employ the maximum amount of restrain in using force against the public demonstrators, including any further Israeli police attacks on the Palestinian residents of the country.
The League of Arab States has called the international community to be ready to intervene for the prevention of any potential eviction of people from the country.
The Supreme Court of Israel will be holding a hearing on the legal case which had been running for a long duration on Monday, which would further clarify the situation.
The country of Israel has occupied the region of East Jerusalem since the Middle East War in the year 1967 and considers the complete city as its capital, although it is not recognized by most of the international community.
The Palestinians have been claiming that the city of East Jerusalem would be their capital city in the future after they would gain an independent state.
